Guiding a group of students to the Areopagus overlooking Athens, Dr Randall Smith paused to speak his heart on Paul’s encounter there with the Areopagites. In Acts 17 we read: “While Paul was waiting at Athens, his spirit was being provoked within him as he was observing the city full of idols”. Why did Paul deviate here from his usual way of proclaiming the gospel in the synagogues and what was his advice later to Timothy concerning that?
The perspective Dr Smith gives on Paul’s action that day may take many by surprise. However, the viewer will want to review this DVD again and again.
Not to mention the climb to the Acropolis as guided by Vicky Papantoniou a local archaeologist and guide. The Acropolis is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historic significance, the most famous being the Parthenon.
